Quick Fixes

🌧️ Noisy Brakes After Rain

🔎 The problem

If your brakes only squeal when it’s wet, that’s usually nothing serious. It’s just water and dirt on the disc. The sound should disappear once things dry out.

  • New noise, only in rain → easy fix

  • Noise was there before, or continues when dry → likely contamination (needs repair or workshop)

⚡ The quick fix

🚶 Lightly brake at walking speed a few times ( 7 - 10 times)

💧 Rinse the disc brake with clean water

🧴 Use disc brake cleaner if you have

You can repeat this every time it rains. The squeak usually fades after a few stops.

⚠️ When to worry

If the noise stays around on a dry day, your pads or disc brakes are contaminated. That means repair or replacement.

❌ Never do this

✋ Don’t touch the disc (Can be hot + contamination risk)

🛢️ Don’t use oil or lubricants (they ruin pads and disc brakes)

📅 Don’t skip maintenance (check brakes every 500 km or ~6 months)

✅ In short

🌧️ Rain brakes noise = Temporary

Quick Fix = Brake slowly several times or rinse with water or spray brake cleaner (repeat every time it rains)

⚠️ If noise persist during dry days = Repair or workshop

❌ Never do thisDon’t oil or touch the disc brake
